A Legacy of Healthcare Leadership and Impact
Dear Colleagues,
I write to share with you that after a distinguished and successful career, Michael A. Young will begin his long planned transition to a well-deserved retirement at the end of the calendar year.
A Legacy of Leadership and Impact
Mike joined Temple Health in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer of Temple University Hospital (TUH) where he led critical turnaround efforts. This quickly earned him the appointment of Chief Executive Officer of TUH. Mike was then appointed President & CEO of Temple Health in February 2020.
Almost immediately after taking the helm as CEO of the clinical enterprise, he led Temple Health through the COVID-19 pandemic, during which Temple played a key role in bringing quality care to vulnerable patients. This institution's response to an unprecedented public health emergency remains one of the defining moments of Mike’s steadfast leadership.
Since then, Mike has been central to the continued integration of Fox Chase Cancer Center as part of Temple Health—building on the strength of each organization to expand clinical research, medical education, and access to world-class cancer care—including the 5-year renewal of its Cancer Center Support (CORE) Grant, achieving NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center re-designation and a 6th consecutive Magnet designation, and expanding regional access through new campuses in Buckingham, Chestnut Hill and New Jersey.
Mike also oversaw successful strategic expansion across the broader health system, including the acquisition of Chestnut Hill Hospital and the opening of Temple Women & Families Hospital, the region’s only hospital dedicated exclusively to the health of women and families.
On behalf of the entire Temple community, I want to express my deep gratitude to Mike for his extraordinary leadership, resilience and commitment to our mission. Through his guidance, Temple Health not only stabilized, but thrived—financially, operationally and strategically—while remaining steadfast in service to the people and communities who depend on us most.
A Temple Made Leader for Tomorrow:
Abhi Rastogi to become President & CEO of Temple Health
I am pleased to announce that Abhi Rastogi, MBA, MIS, will be appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Temple Health effective January 2, 2026, upon Mike’s retirement.
Abhi is a true Temple Made leader: a proud alumnus of the Fox School of Business and a 20-plus year leader at Temple Health. He currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Temple Health and President and CEO of TUH. Working with Mike and the entire Temple Health team, Abhi has played a vital role in meeting our mission and helping Temple Health achieve sustainable growth.
Abhi is highly respected within the Temple community, known for his passion, integrity and shoulder-to-shoulder leadership style. He has guided the institution to national prominence for quality, innovation and clinical excellence. Abhi has worked with or within nearly every part of Temple Health, helping to advance patient services and clinical infrastructure, and expanding Temple’s capacity to reinvest in mission-driven priorities.
Temple Health is the strongest it has ever been, and this planned leadership transition underscores our stability and continuity. Temple Health is strongly positioned for the future, and Abhi is the right leader to continue our strategic path and build on what we have already achieved.
I am confident we will see a seamless transition in January.
Sincerely,
John Fry
President
