Cleaning chemicals from wastewater is usually complicated and expensive. But researchers at Temple's Water and Environmental Technology Center are exploring new technologies to make that process easier. One uses sound generated by vibrating metal plates. "Energy gets focused on microscopic points and you're literally creating conditions similar to the surface of the sun," says Rominder Suri, head of the lab. The contaminants are zapped, or broken down.
