In an Inquirer column, Eva Monheim of Temple's Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture offered seasonal gardening tips. For autumn, Monheim advised readers to remove dead leaves and stalks from daylilies, look for fall-blooming plants at garden centers, bag seed heads, repot house plants, gather herbs for drying and plant annual rye and garlic. There's fun to be had indoors as well. Her advice: Cut flower stems early in the morning (when plants are least stressed) and indulge your passion for flower arranging.
