Summer Academies program adds an environmental track
Sixty-six talented high-school students had an opportunity to experience college coursework this summer as part of Temple’s Summer Academies Program.
The program allowed students to get a head start on earning credits toward an undergraduate degree and introduced them to career-related resources and other opportunities. This year, an Environmental Studies Summer Academy was introduced. |

Sponsored by the Toyota USA Foundation, the three-credit environmental studies course focused on the relationship between societies and their natural environments. Students traveled to Fairmount Waterworks, Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, the Mill Creek Farm and Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust. The Temple Summer Academies also include programs in business leadership, engineering and molecular life sciences.
