For the fifth year, Temple Ambler is offering its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, providing free tax preparation assistance for low- to moderate-income individuals and families. "We do it all for free; there's no hidden charges," said Steven Balsam, a Temple accounting professor. "I am assisted by a couple of faculty members who are CPAs as well. We have some alumni who come back. Everybody has a Temple affiliation." This tax season, the VITA program is on track to provide tax assistance to a record number of people.
