In recent weeks, controversies erupted over media reports — including a viral video called "Kony 2012" about an African dictator — that stretched the boundaries between truth and fabrication. "It just seemed the story they were telling was too bad," said Temple journalism professor Christopher Harper, co-director of the Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab, about the Kony video. "With such productions, what I need and don't get is a way to check the facts, to drill down to the authentic truth."
