Court ruling on immigration law a victory for the White House
A federal appellate court Monday upheld a judge's ban on the most controversial parts of the new Arizona immigration law. The ruling sets the stage for a showdown at the U.S. Supreme Court over how far a state can go to expel illegal immigrants. Experts say the ruling was a victory for the White House, which challenged the law in court last year. The Obama administration "couldn't have asked for more in the results of the ruling or the reasoning of the ruling," said Peter Spiro, a professor at Temple's Beasley School of Law.
