Med school reaches out to help reunite local family

In the wake of the earthquake in Haiti, Andreanna Pierre and her husband, William, filed petitions under humanitarian parole for their niece and nephew in Haiti to join them in Philadelphia. The rules of humanitarian parole require applicants to show that they will be well-supported in the United States and not become a public burden. To that end, the pediatrics department at Temple's School of Medicine has promised to provide the children's medical care, according to Kathleen Reeves, associate dean at the medical school.
