A record-breaking year for tech transfer at Temple

For the first time in its history, Temple will receive more than $1 million in a fiscal year from licenses on intellectual property developed by its researchers. "This is momentum to a much larger goal," said Stephen Nappi, who directs Temple's Office of Technology Development and Commercialization. Nappi attributed Temple's increase in licensing income to several factors, including new licensing agreements, effective management of existing agreements, increases in patenting and licensing activity and two technologies developed by Rongjia Tao, chair of the Physics Department. Tao will set a milestone for a Temple professor by receiving more than $132,000 in royalties from his inventions, a diesel fuel injector and a technology used to reduce the viscosity of crude oil.
