As drivers on regional Interstate highways know, Temple has launched a campaign to promote running back Bernard Pierce as a Heisman Trophy candidate. The sophomore from Ardmore, the Owls' first legitimate Heisman contender since Paul Palmer in 1986, has his own website (www.Pierce4Heisman.com) and is featured on a series of billboards. "It's a new experience," said Pierce, who rushed for 1,361 yards and 16 touchdowns last year. "Some say it's a lot of pressure, a lot of weight on my shoulders, but I really don't think so. I just have to keep doing everything I've been doing."
