With sexualized images so prevalent in the media, parents are often left to wonder if this has any effect on their childrens' desire to engage in sex earlier than usual. Temple psychologist Laurence Steinberg says it's the other way around. He found that teens who are already interested in sex will choose to consume more sexualized media. "The bottom line is that parents shouldn't worry as much about what their teens are watching on TV. Instead, they should be more focused on [not] leaving their teens unsupervised if they want to prevent teenage sex," he said.
