A tantalizing buzz has seized the hockey world over prospects of legendary sports union boss Donald Fehr and National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman squaring off in a labor negotiations drama for the ages. The high-profile Fehr, former head of the Major League Baseball Players Association, has apparently been lured northward to assume leadership of the troubled NHL Players’ Association. Players and fans have a lot to like in the new appointment, says Aubrey Kent, a Canadian sports industry expert and director of the Sport Industry Research Center at Temple. "Even the most jaded sports fan at this point has to realize that having the balance of power too far in favor of either the owners or players ends up being detrimental to the business of the game itself."
