The National Park Service has teamed with Temple to offer park ranger internships. After graduating from college, participating students are converted to full-time rangers. The program, which is headquartered at Temple, is called ProRanger Philadelphia. Jill Hawk, regional chief ranger for the National Park Service Northeas.t Region explained how many park rangers are going to retire in the next five years, and that many park rangers are needed in the urban and suburban Northeast. "This is a long-term academic and training program and a longer-term investment in these students," Hawk said. "The young people that we have engaged at Temple are incredibly motivated to do something good for their communities."
