In what would be the biggest transaction in Canadian sport history, Rogers Communications is in talks to buy the Toronto Maple Leafs, a deal worth more than $1 billion. Buying a majority stake in Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment would transform Rogers, which already owns the Toronto Blue Jays, into one of the most powerful sports enterprises in North America. Aubrey Kent, director of the Sport Industry Research Center at Temple, said a Rogers deal would "be quite a monopoly all centralized in a top five market in North America."
