Puentes de Salud selected for Claneil Foundation's Emerging Leaders Fund
Steve Larson, an assistant professor of medicine and public health at Temple, was recently selected by the Claneil Foundation board to receive an Emerging Leaders Fund grant. Larson was honored along with fellow co-founder Matt O'Brien of the University of Pennsylvania.
Puentes de Salud (Bridges of Health) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the health and wellness of South Philadelphia’s rapidly growing Latino immigrant population through high-quality health care, innovative educational programs and community building.
The Emerging Leaders Fund annually recognizes founders and/or leaders of young organizations primarily on the East Coast who demonstrate the potential for significant impact. The Emerging Leaders Fund provides recipients with $200,000 of unrestricted funding disbursed over 4 years and a peer group of other leaders. More than 80 sources identify potential candidates and then select up to four each year based on a year-long board-led review process. The initial candidates come from funding and nonprofit partners who suggest up-and-coming leaders who could benefit from such an award.
