Antonio Giordano, director of the Center for Biotechnology and of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine in the College of Science and Technology, received the “Master of Oncology” award from the Oncology Group of South Italy, known in Italian as “GOIM.” The GOIM is a non-profit association that aims to develop and support scientific research in southern Italy. Giordano presented a lecture titled "Genes and Cancer: Between Myth and Reality" during the meeting where he received his award. He also received the "Premio Casentino" in medicine, an award honoring significant contributions in the fields of literature, journalism, economics and medicine, from the Center Fonte Aretusa in Poppi, Tuscany.
