Katherine Ament, BA, Environmental Studies, College of Liberal Arts
Ament served as president of Temple Community Garden and worked as an outreach assistant at Temple’s Office of Sustainability.
Thomas DiAgostino, BA, Women’s Studies and Spanish, College of Liberal Arts
DiAgostino received a Presidential Volunteer Service Award for his work combating urban poverty and the educational achievement gap for preschoolers in low-income communities.
Alexandra Fleming, BA, Communication Studies and Italian, School of Media and Communication
Fleming served as co-president of the Lambda Pi Eta national honor society and interned at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Lindsey Hildebrand, BA, Psychology, College of Liberal Arts
Hildebrand serves as both program coordinator and fundraising chair of Honors Appalachian Experience, which places students in service projects with Appalachian communities in need.
Tyler Horst, BA, Media Studies and Production and Spanish, School of Media and Communication
Horst made films for Temple’s study-abroad program in South Africa before co-producing We All Live Here, a documentary on Temple’s role in North Philadelphia.
Jenelle Janci, BA, Journalism, School of Media and Communication
Janci earned an internship at the Philadelphia Daily News and a position as a collegiate correspondent for USA Today.
Molly Lawrence, BA, Political Science, College of Liberal Arts
Lawrence interned at POPPYN, a Temple student-produced news program, and served in the Leader Corps of the Temple University Community Collaborative, which engages local youth in media production.
Richard (Bokun) Li, BA, Media Studies and Production, School of Media and Communication
Li serves as communications director for the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and founded WoCrazy, an online resource for Temple’s international students.
Madeline E. Luebbert, BA, English and Spanish, College of Liberal Arts
Luebbert volunteered in North Philadelphia to increase literacy before participating in Temple’s Service Immersion Program in El Paso, Texas.
Kelly McArdle, BA, Classical Languages and Literature, College of Liberal Arts
McArdle is program coordinator for the Honors Admissions and Transitions Team as well as academics editor for the Templar Annual Yearbook.
Gaelen McCartney, BFA, Fibers and Material Studies, Tyler School of Art
McCartney is a finalist for a Truman scholarship after co-founding Hootathon, a dance event for Temple students to support Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Lori B. Moore, BS, Pre–Health Professions: Kinesiology, College of Public Health
Moore received the American Kinesiology Association’s Undergraduate Scholar Award and served as president of the Exercise Science Association.
Kevin Murray, BA, Musical Theater Arts, Division of Theater, Film and Media Arts
Murray performed in several local productions and served as a dynamic resident assistant on campus.
Nadia Ouazzi, BA, Communication Studies, School of Media and Communication
Ouazzi interned at the White House in the Office of Presidential Correspondence after completing a service project on South Dakota’s Rosebud Lakota Reservation.
Kristine Polizzano, BA, Psychology, College of Liberal Arts
Polizzano maintained her status as a national powerlifting champion while studying and working as a research assistant for Crossroads Research to provide development data to U.S. communities.
Charles Ries, BA, Criminal Justice, College of Liberal Arts
Ries is chairperson of the Temple Criminal Justice Society and recipient of this year’s Criminal Justice Faculty Award.
Nathan Rost, BS, Neuroscience: Systems, Behavior and Plasticity, College of Liberal Arts
Rost works as an EMT for Temple University Medical Services and serves on the board of Temple’s chapter of MEDLIFE, which encourages community development of medical infrastructure worldwide through volunteerism.
Alexa Segal, BS, Public Health, College of Public Health
Segal participated in an exchange program at the U.K.’s University of East Anglia and chaired the Social Action Committee of Philadelphia’s chapter of Hillel.
Julie Seidman, BA, Communication Studies and Russian, School of Media and Communication
Seidman received a Critical Language Scholarship and studied abroad at the International University of Moscow.
Katey Steinberg, BS, Biology and Spanish, College of Science and Technology
Steinberg volunteered for a medical service project in Peru and co-founded Hootathon, Temple’s dance marathon to benefit Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Melissa Sara Tucker, BA, Criminal Justice, College of Liberal Arts
Tucker chaired the Phi Sigma Pi national honor fraternity and tutored for H.O.P.E., a nonprofit organization providing aid to indigent students.
Jenna Leigh Wandishin, BS, Architecture, Tyler School of Art
Wandishin serves as president of the American Institute of Architecture Students and launched a Day of Service for Philadelphia minority architects.
Elizabeth Yazvac, BA, Political Science, College of Liberal Arts
Yazvac serves as student representative on the Temple University Alumni Association Executive Board as well as student coordinator for the Honors Admissions and Transitions Team.
Alisha Zafar, BA, Media Studies and Production and Spanish, School of Media and Communication
Zafar is director of public relations for the Honors Activity Board and volunteered as a counselor at Camp Discovery, a summer program for children living with skin disease.
