As we close out 2022, I want to highlight our successes and challenges as a community. I’m thrilled to report that Temple University is thriving. In the areas of academics and research, we’re among the best, and best-valued, universities in the country. And there is much more to come.

This week, I prepared a special video message for you to acknowledge our collective efforts, and address areas where we must find solutions.

Like many universities across the country, we’re facing two critical challenges: the mental health of our students, and increasing gun violence. I want you to know that we’re redoubling our efforts to connect students with the mental health resources they need. And we’re working hard to keep you safe, including partnering with Philadelphia police, students, community members, and crime experts on new initiatives. On a personal note, Gingi and I are very excited about our family’s upcoming move to North Philadelphia. We look forward to seeing you even more around campus in 2023!

I wish you and your loved ones a joyous, safe, and reinvigorating winter break.

With gratitude,

Dr. Jason Wingard

President
