College of Science and Technology, Sbarro co-host D.C. conference

The College of Science and Technology joined the Sbarro Health Research Organization, the National Italian American Foundation and the Giovan Giacomo Giordano Foundation in co-hosting “Current Advances in Medicine, Surgery and Biotechnology.” The one-day conference was held Oct. 25 in Washington, D.C. Among the topics presented were medical research and biotechnology, liver cancer in the third millennium, and tissue microarray technology for basic research and diagnostic application. Speakers included Antonio Giordano, director of Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine and Center for Biotechnology at Temple; Cataldo Doria, director of the division of transplantation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; and Pasquale De Blasio, president of ISENET - USA LLC. Doria also was presented with the Giovan Giacomo Giordano NIAF Award for Ethics and Creativity in Medical Research.
