Al Shrier, former Temple sports information director and current special assistant to the athletic director, received the 2009 Pete Nevins Award for Distinguished Achievement from the Eastern College Athletics Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA). The annual award recognizes an individual who has advanced the field of athletic communications and advocated for intercollegiate athletics.  Shrier, a 1953 Temple graduate, has spent 55 years in the field and has been honored by Temple with his own bobble head doll and the naming of the Al Shrier Media Room.
