Temple Medical Resident Earns Humaneness in Medicine Award from Philadelphia County Medical Society

Jocelyn Edathil, a third-year internal medicine resident at Temple University Hospital, received the Vanitha Appadorai Vaidya, MD Award for Humaneness in Medicine from the Philadelphia County Medical Society. The award is presented to a resident or fellow in recognition of their skills in working with people, patients and their families and understanding human as well as clinical needs.
Edathil has a special interest in HIV research and translational medicine. She earned her PhD in organic chemistry focusing on antiviral drug design. At the completion of her residency, Edathil plans to become a missionary and focus on global health in HIV.
She received the award during a June 8 ceremony at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia.
