AdvisingAwards

Beginning Monday, Feb. 15, through Friday, Feb. 26, the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies will accept nominations for the Undergraduate Academic Advising Awards. Since 2005, Temple has celebrated the work of professional advisors, advising administrators and faculty advisors by selecting an outstanding candidate in each of these categories. A fourth category – Outstanding New Advisor – was added in 2007.

All award recipients receive a check for $1,000. All are eligible to be Temple’s nominee for NACADA's corresponding advisor awards. Please visit the office's website for additional information.

Those who wish to submit nominations may do so by emailing AcademicAdvisingAwards@temple.edu. Please include the nominee’s full name, title, department/school/college, office address, email address, telephone number and the award category. Self nominations are accepted. Nominations should be based on an individual’s contributions to the advising process, his/her personal help to advisees, enhancement of advising skills and understanding of advising in the context of Temple’s policies. Deadline for nominations is Feb. 26, 2010. Nominees will be notified by March 2, 2010 by the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies.

Following the February nomination period, nominees who accept the nomination will submit a packet consisting of a nomination form, a professional statement and three recommendations (see above website for packet information). The packets are due no later than Friday, April 2. A university selection committee will choose one award recipient in each category. Recipients will receive a plaque and a cash award. Awards will be presented at the Annual Advisor Professional Development Workshop in early May.
