Temple announces plans to close Peabody residence hall

Temple University today announced that Peabody Hall, at Broad and Norris streets, will not be available for student housing for the 2017–2018 academic year. The university is evaluating the 60-year-old building to determine its future.

Current residents are unaffected and will remain in the building until the end of the academic year.

The 287 beds that were available at Peabody, which is offered to first-year students, will be accommodated elsewhere at comparable cost through Temple-sponsored housing agreements.

The Tyler School of Art Living Learning Community, which currently resides in Peabody, will be relocated to the 1940 Residence Hall, across Norris Street on Liacouras Walk, in order to maintain close proximity to the Tyler School. A new Architecture and Environmental Design Living Learning Community will also be offered in the 1940 Residence Hall in the fall.
