Mary E. Burke named vice president for institutional advancement
Temple community,
I am pleased to announce that Mary E. Burke, an accomplished leader in higher education and nonprofit development, has been named vice president for institutional advancement and recommended to the Board of Trustees for final appointment at its meeting next Tuesday.
My objective of amplifying the excellence of Temple University underscores the importance of institutional advancement. Support of Temple’s philanthropic programs—including development, alumni relations, and corporate and foundation relations—allows the university to provide students, alumni, and the broader community with the resources they need to fully reach their potential. I am confident that Mary will take advancement at Temple to new heights and I look forward to having her on my leadership team.
Mary brings a wealth of experience in building and managing advancement organizations at MIT, Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and Johns Hopkins University, where she supported university leadership in engaging donors to solicit multimillion dollar gifts and activating high-dollar comprehensive campaigns. During her remarkable 25-year career, Mary has successfully spearheaded ambitious fundraising programs, including a $1.5 billion dollar comprehensive campaign at the University of Maryland. Her experience will allow her to build a strong culture of philanthropy at Temple University that will further enhance the university’s reputation. More information about Mary and her appointment can be found here.
Join me in welcoming Mary to the Temple family.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jason Wingard
President
