Know Before You Go: 137th Commencement

Congratulations, graduates!

We are excited to welcome you and your guests to Temple University’s Main Campus next week for the 137th University Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10 a.m. and for your school/college graduation ceremonies on May 8, 9 and 10.

To plan for the festivities next week, we strongly encourage you and your families to review the “Ceremony Information for Graduates and Guests on the Commencement” website. There, you’ll find FAQs on parking, security, regalia and what items you can or cannot bring to the ceremonies.

Below, you can find important reminders regarding the University Commencement ceremony on May 8.

  • Graduates should arrive at the Liacouras Center loading dock on Broad Street at 8:30 a.m. All graduates will need their student IDs to enter. The Liacouras Center will utilize walk-through metal detectors for all attendees, so please arrive on time.
  • If you are planning to drive, you must bring the parking pass you received, or you will not be able to park in your assigned lot.
  • Traffic around campus will increase significantly, so kindly remind your guests to allow ample time to arrive at the facility, park, and pass through security. Doors open for guests at 8:30 a.m.
  • All graduates must be in academic regalia to process which includes a cap, gown and hood.
  • Graduates are responsible for all personal items during the ceremony. There is nowhere to store personal items. Graduates will need to carry any items they bring with them as they process. All bags must be clear and are subject to search, and we encourage you to minimize the number of personal items you bring to the venue.

If you have any questions, please contact commencement@temple.edu or your dean's office. Thank you, and good luck with your final exams. We are looking forward to celebrating this momentous milestone with you, your friends and family!
