A momentous time for Temple University

To the Temple community,

Tomorrow is a momentous day in the history of Temple University as John Fry will officially begin his tenure as this institution’s 15th president.

We are proud to welcome President Fry as he is the right leader at the right moment for this university. His commitment to Temple is already clear as he has spent time over the last several months getting up to speed on the university while working with President Englert and the leadership team on the transition process.

President Fry joins us at a time when this university has tremendous momentum, and we know that he will continue to build on that energy in the months ahead. In the weeks to come, I know he is eager to continue meeting with members of the Temple community as he develops his vision for Temple.

On behalf of both the Board of Trustees and the entire Temple University community, I also want to extend a sincere thank you to President Richard Englert.

I am grateful that this is not goodbye, as President Englert has agreed to return to the role of chancellor. On so many occasions, Dick has answered the call to lead this university and has done so with both class and grace. His commitment to Temple and its many stakeholders is unwavering, and we will always be in his debt.

In closing, I ask the entire Temple community to join me in welcoming John Fry. We have a bright future ahead of us, and I cannot wait to see how all of you, under President Fry’s leadership, will further elevate this remarkable university.

Sincerely,

Mitchell L. Morgan
Chair, Board of Trustees
