Honoring all who served
Dear Temple students and colleagues,
Every year, Veterans Day provides us with an opportunity to recognize and honor all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. These individuals have displayed incomparable strength, courage and selflessness, all while risking their lives to defend this great country.
A total of 254 veterans are presently enrolled here at Temple University and more than 140 serve our community as faculty and staff members. These individuals have successfully navigated through some of the most demanding of circumstances. They are leaders and heroes, and they also reflect the richly diverse community that defines Temple.
At Temple, we are committed to supporting veteran and military-affiliated students along their educational journey by ensuring that they have the resources they need to thrive. We proudly participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which works to offset tuition costs that are not covered by the post-9/11 GI Bill.
To all our veterans, I say thank you, on behalf of the Temple community.
Later today, Temple students, faculty and staff will gather to honor the sacrifices of our service members and veterans during the 2024 Veterans Day Ceremony. This event, which is sponsored by the Office of Military and Veteran Services and held in Mitten Hall, is just one of the ways that we ensure that the incredible sacrifices made by members of this community will never be forgotten.
As we continue through this week, let us also pause to recognize the contributions of all veterans, both here in Pennsylvania and across the country. Their unwavering commitment to defending and protecting this great nation is inspiring, and we are so appreciative of their efforts.
Sincerely,
John Fry
President
