Incident early this morning

To the Temple community,

Early this morning, at approximately 2:40 a.m., officers with the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) responded to a call of a stabbing at an off-campus residence on the 1400 block of N. 15th St. Upon arrival, they found an individual on the third floor of the residence who had suffered multiple stab wounds.

The victim is a recent Temple graduate and is in critical but stable condition at Temple University Hospital. The suspect is a Temple student and has been detained. The suspect and the victim live in the same apartment building and are members of the same Greek organization, whose chapter is not currently recognized by the university due to previous infractions. Anyone who has information regarding this incident should contact Temple’s Department of Public Safety at 215-204-1234.

While we do not yet know the circumstances leading up to this incident, we do know that the resulting violence is never the answer. This is a tragic situation with life-altering outcomes for all involved.

As the PPD and Temple Police continue to investigate this incident, Temple’s Division of Student Affairs will be pursuing its own investigations. Those involved will be subject to disciplinary action under the Student Conduct Code, which would be in addition to any criminal charges.

Any student who needs support is encouraged to take advantage of the many resources at Tuttleman Counseling Services, located at 1700 N. Broad St. For more information on services and hours of operation, call 215-204-7276 or visit the Tuttleman Counseling Services website
