Antisemitic incident last night
Dear Students and Colleagues,
At approximately 3 p.m., the university became aware of reports that Temple students were involved in an antisemitic incident at an off-campus location last night. This is deeply disturbing, and it is with profound regret that I must share this news with our community.
In the strongest terms possible, let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent. It has no place at Temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university.
Our Division of Student Affairs is conducting an investigation related to last night’s incident, and they have identified one Temple student who is believed to have been involved. This individual has already been placed on interim suspension.
Any additional students who are found to be involved will face strict disciplinary action under the Student Conduct Code, up to and including expulsion. Anyone with additional information related to the reported events should contact the Dean of Students at dos@temple.edu.
Disturbing incidents like this can impact members of the Temple community in many ways. Students can seek out support and guidance through Tuttleman Counseling Services and IDEAL’s Interfaith Inclusion Center. For faculty and staff, our Employee Assistance Program is available 24/7.
I also encourage any member of the Temple community who has experienced discrimination or harassment to submit a report through the Department of Public Safety, the Equal Opportunity Compliance Office and the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. This can also be done through the Ethics and Compliance Helpline.
I know that incidents like this do not represent our community and its values. Thank you for your support and continued commitment to ensuring that Temple provides a safe and welcoming environment to all its students, faculty, staff and neighbors.
Sincerely,
John Fry
President
