Haiti continues to deal with aftershocks, following a deadly earthquake. Temple University is holding a Haiti relief fundraiser today from 8:30 to 5:00. The effort is being sponsored by Temple’s Haitian Student Organization. Nonperishable food, medical supplies and hygiene items are welcomed items of donation.

Temple students gathered at The Bell Tower on Main Campus to remember lives lost in the Haiti earthquake and pray for those left behind. The vigil followed a program highlighting Haitian history. It was organized by Haitian born members of the Delta Mu chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

Reprising a duo that dates back to the 1980’s, Jimmy Heath will take the Blue Note Stage next month with special guest MC Bill Cosby joining him for opening night. Heath performed on The Cosby Show in 1985, and has since worked with the famous comedian several times throughout his career. Heath will lead a big band on tenor and soprano saxophone for two sets a night from Feb. 2 through Feb. 7. Heath’s memoir, I Walked With Giants, will be released on Jan. 28 by Temple University Press and contains a forward by Cosby.
