Buy Afghanistan's heroin to undermine the trade

Media Outlet:

International Herald Tribune

If the U.S. and its partners bought all of Afghanistan's opium, a major source of corruption would disappear, violence would fall and a global shortage of morphine could be alleviated. "In 2006, the world used 231 tons of morphine equivalents," Marie-Josephine Seya, of Temple's School of Pharmacy, said in a study. "If all countries increased their consumption to adequate levels, the required amount would be almost six times higher."

The turnaround is nothing short of miraculous, a modern-day "Rocky" story. Much of the credit goes to Bradshaw. Temple has come to embody everything Philadelphia represents. The Owls are tough. They are proud. They are survivors.
