Revolt in Japan ruling party but government keeps majority

Japanese political heavyweight Ichiro Ozawa and dozens of other lawmakers quit the ruling party on Monday over a plan to increase the sales tax, but the government will retain its majority in the powerful lower house of parliament. "I'm sure (prime minister) Noda has the champagne on ice. He'll be happy to see the back of Ozawa," said Jeffrey Kingston, a faculty member at Temple University, Japan Campus.

Some media jumped to conclusions on Supreme Court ruling

When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on the Affordable Care Act, Fox News and CNN reported the wrong outcome. "People, especially journalists, had been waiting so long for this decision," said Chris Harper, co-director of the Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab at Temple. "People couldn't help themselves. They were just jumping the gun."
