As part of a "Guerilla Altruism" class taught by Scott Schall of the Architecture Department, Emily Hooven, Tom Simon and Matthew Law-Phipps conducted street interviews and launched a YouTube channel called "Diabetes Diaries" to raise awareness about a disease that affects 24 million Americans. "No matter how much you hear about it, I think you [need to] put a face on something so that it sinks in, that it's real and can be critical for a lot of people, life-threatening," said Law-Phipps. "I hope people will realize it is a real threat with our Western diet. Avoid fast food and exercise and realize they do have to do something to avoid it," said Simon.
