The Liacouras Center rocked with the sounds of celebration and music as family, friends, faculty, staff and two distinguished Philadelphia icons gathered to honor Temple's Class of 2010 at the university's 123rd Commencement Exercises. Local music legend and humanitarian Patti LaBelle surprised the largest graduating class in Temple's history when she burst into song after receiving an honorary doctorate from President Ann Weaver Hart and Board of Trustees Chair Patrick O'Connor. Not to be outdone, Temple Trustee and alumnus Bill Cosby drew laughs and applause for a speech welcoming grads to the real world and urging them to give their parents a hug. School of Communications and Theater senior Ashley Greenwood was one of several happy graduates interviewed by reporters.
