Art historian explains controversy surrounding film

The Tyler School of Art's Temple Gallery is showing "Fire in the Belly," a short silent film by David Wojnarowicz that was removed from the National Portrait Gallery a few months ago after a religious group protested a sequence showing ants crawling on a crucifix. The film includes several "images of violence," said Tyler art historian Gerald Silk. "There's an image of a wrestling match, showing man against man; there's an image of cockfighting, representing animal against animal; there's an image of bullfighting, man against animal."
