What do a college student, an art instructor and an Irish journalist all have in common? Marcellus shale inspires them. Jennie Shanker collects shale to make mugs. When she isn’t teaching at Temple’s Tyler School of Art, she’s getting ready to exhibit. “I was working with people who were concerned with fracking, and I had never heard about it,” said Shanker. “I paid more attention to it, but it was hard to get information to trust. I just wanted to learn more.”
