In an opinion piece, Valerie Harrison, associate university counsel at Temple, discussed the value of law school preparatory programs in helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups in overcoming obstacles to pursuing a legal career. "Many of these students come to law school without the information, resources and skills necessary to do their best work. Therefore, in order to help them maximize their employment options upon graduation, it is imperative to help them on the front end to excel academically," she wrote. Harrison represents Temple on the board of the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group and co-chairs the college outreach committee that planned this summer's legal boot camp.
