Break toddlers of the bottle habit early

A study led by Temple researchers has found that drinking extra calories is just as bad for toddlers as it is for the rest of us. The researchers studied data on nearly 7,000 children and found that those who still used a bottle at age 2 were over 30 percent more likely to be obese at 5 1/2 years old. "Older children who drink from a bottle may be consuming excess calories if it's not about the bottle as food or nourishment, but rather comfort or convenience," said Rachel Gooze, the study's lead author.
