CNN: Temple filmmaker tells forgotten story of women during WWII

In 1942, a secret U.S. military program recruited women to work as "computers," calculating weapons trajectories for soldiers fighting World War II. Their story is shared in "Top Secret Rosies," a documentary by LeAnn Erickson, associate professor in the Department of Film and Media Arts at Temple. "There were lots and lots of women, thousands of women doing this kind of work all across the United States," Erickson said. "We just don't know it." Erickson's documentary focuses on women doing ballistics calculations for the war effort at the University of Pennsylvania in the 1940s.
