A four-part series on KYW News Radio focused on the ways students and parents are implementing cost-cutting strategies. "We're seeing students shopping for discounts and looking for ways to be more economical with regard to the cost of attendance," said Michael Scales, Temple's associate vice president for university housing and residential life, in part one. Faced with declining state support, some colleges are also cutting costs. At Temple, "we actually are implementing a $37-million reduction in the operating budget this year" in order to keep undergraduate base tuition flat, said Temple Executive Vice President for Financial Affairs, CFO and Treasurer Anthony Wagner in part four.
