Dentistry program helping PA make the grade

A new state-by-state report card issued by the Pew Charitable Trusts on oral healthcare for kids finds Pennsylvania improving from an 'F' to a 'D.' The report cited an innovative pilot program at Temple's Kornberg School of Dentistry that is training community workers to do basic-level preventive dental care. Program participant Calvin Hoops, a community dental health coordinator at Esperanza Health Center in North Philadelphia, says he hopes to work with medical providers at the center to get existing patients connected to ongoing dental care.
