In a column on the front page of the Local section, Annette John-Hall introduced readers to four students — two from Temple and two from Simpson College in Iowa — participating in the Simpson-Temple Cultural Exchange Program (created by Temple alumna Carol Zahn Booth '74). The aspiring teachers learned about instruction in diverse classroom settings by spending four weeks teaching in Philadelphia and Iowa. The experience helped them crystallize their professional goals. Before, Temple senior Kaylin Womack wanted to teach inner-city kids, but now, "I want to teach everybody's kids, because we learn from everybody's cultures," she said.
