Electronic medical records provide new job opportunities
The rise in electronic medical records has slowed down emergency medicine physicians so much that doctors are hiring a new group of employees called medical scribes to input data for them. Brittany Fera, a premed student at Temple, works as a scribe in the emergency departments in two New Jersey hospitals and says the job has exposed her to things she otherwise wouldn't get to see or do. "I almost didn't believe it when I heard that I got to follow a doctor and go into every room," she said.
