Fat jokes hurt even tough Chris Christie

Gov. Chris Christie's keynote speech at the Republican National Convention has given comedians fresh fodder for jokes about his weight. Gary Foster, who directs Temple's Center for Obesity Research and Education, said, "I think it's despicable.” Foster says making fun of people because of their weight is the last place where bigotry is still socially acceptable. He says part of the reason is that most people believe that obesity is a choice, and a sign of weakness and lack of control.
