Fatal tragedies involving cell phones draw attention to HR policies

Recent tragedies linked to workers on their cell phones have drawn attention to how to manage cell phone usage at work. In addition to targeting personal calls while on the clock, companies have also restricted cell phone use to cut down on people checking Facebook, Twitter and their personal e-mail on company time. "The lure of instant and constant communications with our friends and family is really too much for most people, no matter how professional," said Alex Godun, an instructor at Temple's Fox School of Business.
