Historian Heather Thompson serves as consultant for new film on Attica

A new documentary on the 1971 Attica prison riot raises doubts about whether a prominent inmate was accidentally killed in the retaking, as the official version of the uprising has long maintained. Heather Thompson, professor in Temple's Department of History and Department of African American Studies, is writing what likely will be the definitive history of the Attica uprising. Thompson worked closely with the filmmaker and is interviewed in the film.
