How faculty can plan a productive summer

"Summer is both an academic's best friend and biggest challenge," wrote Temple historian and Intellectual Heritage faculty member Noah Shusterman in a CHE "Advice" column. "Summer beckons, promising you long days of productivity sitting at a desk and typing away….Things rarely work out that way, of course." Shusterman outlined tips for making summers more productive. His advice: Treat your summer writing projects like a long road trip, have an ambitious plan, set achievable goals, never double down, focus early and when it's vacation — it's vacation.
