Insurers look to Temple and other top programs to fill gap in work force

Insurers look to Temple and other top programs to fill gap in work force

With a looming manpower gap in the insurance industry, insurers say they are focusing on college recruitment efforts as schools pique students' interest in the profession. The Department of Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management at Temple's Fox School of Business uses an "Intro to Risk Management" course to expose students to career opportunities in the field. "I deal with 18-to-20-year-old students daily, and I know what their impressions are of the insurance industry, and it is just limited," said R.B. Drennan, department chair. "Their only exposure is auto insurance, so they don't see all the possibilities out there that they can do."
