One of the great myths of American civics is that the U.S. Supreme Court is above the fray of partisan politics — but the fate of healthcare reform seems likely to be decided by a conservative court. "The court is quite conservative [and] when you get into unsettled territory, political leanings tend to be strong predictors of individual justices," said Mark Rahdert, a professor at Temple's Beasley School of Law. "That's been established extensively by political science studies over generations of court decision making."
