On Sunday, Oct. 3, in Central Park, Temple psychologist Kathy Hirsh-Pasek hosted more than 50,000 parents and children at the Ultimate Block Party. Studies show that over the past two decades children have lost eight hours of playtime per week. This decrease in playtime, coupled with an increase in sedentary time in front of computers, is contributing to childhood obesity and negatively impacting the development of children’s social skills, she says.
